Her daughter's father left her and her parents shut her out of their lives, all when she needed them the most.

Drawn to both Lauren and Kristen, Kyle invites them both the annual Christmas tree lighting. From here the invitations for Lauren and Kristen to attend Preston family functions continues. Lauren is comfortable with Kyle and his family but she's not comfortable being in a relationship. Her attempts to dissuade Kyle could have chased a lesser man away but he proves to Lauren that she can trust him and he's not going anywhere.

This is the first book that I've read by Lisa Mondello and I wonder why I waited so long. I grabbed a copy of this book off of Amazon in 2012 and I just read it. The book is fast paced and I found it easy to get absorbed in the story. The author does a great job with the character development and world building. We have to have enough of the back story for Lauren to understand her behaviors in the present day. We also need Kyle's back story to put him in perspective, too.

This story is sweet and hopeful. It's full of love and tenderness but also skepticism and uncertainty. Lauren's ex and her family have done a number on her and she's unable to look past the hurt until she meets Kyle. Their connection is instant and written realistically. I was able to connect to the characters on an emotional level because they were written so well.

Their relationship moves along pretty fast over the holiday season so if you're not into insta-love then this probably isn't the book for you. The book, story, and timeline work for me because I met my husband online in July, we met face-to-face in August and went on several dates, and I moved in by September. We waited a year to get engaged, however, and another year to get married. We've now been together for just over 9 years and married for just over 7 years. It can happen people!

Anyway, if you are looking for a fast-paced holiday romance with a sweet 6 year old, a moody teenager, a distrusting and lonely woman, a hot Santa, and a crazy but happy family, you should definitely check out All I Want for Christmas is You.

Yes, I know, I read a Christmas Story in September! I couldn't help myself! I am the last one who wants to see the Christmas Decorations and the Halloween side by side! I hate that but this story melted and stole my heart! I loved the relationships, and the connections between family, friends and caring that I saw in this book! Things that are way too rare in our world! People caring about each other expecting nothing in return! A beautiful story that is rare and genuine!
This is one of those sweet, uncomplicated romances set during the Christmas season. It's a story about a single mom, who finally finds love with a good, kind, and caring man. The book is nicely written, and IMO, the author does a nice job with the development of the characters. I particularly liked Kyle, who is a big softie. Kyle, abandoned by his father at the age of twelve, has had some major obstacles to overcome in his life. Finally finding love and acceptance with his adopted family, Kyle is now a successful real estate developer, who is looking for the right woman to settle down with. Lauren, single mom of adorable six year old Kristen, is not looking for love at all. She just wants to be able to continue to take care of herself and her little girl. Lauren too has had her share of difficulties to overcome, not the least of which is being abandoned by her teenage boyfriend when he discovered she was pregnant, and then later being turned out of her home by her parents who were against her decision to keep her baby. Now almost seven years later, Lauren is struggling and doing the best she can to eek out a life for herself and Kristen.

Kyle first becomes aware of Lauren, when he meets Kristen while playing Santa Claus at shopping mall that he owns. Kristen wants a daddy, not for herself so much, but for her mother, who she believes could use the help. Later, Lauren and Kyle meet when he comes to her aid in the parking lot after her car refuses to start. From there the story quickly progresses to its conclusion, complete with a very satisfying HEA. Kyle is immediately attracted to Lauren, but before he can win her, he must convince her that love is worth taking the risk. Kyle has his work cut out for him, because Lauren doesn't trust men, who in her experience inevitably abandon you when you need them the most--prime examples being Kristen's father, and her own. But Kyle is nothing, if not determined, and with the aid of his adopted family, envelops Lauren in such a warm, loving embrace that she soon succumbs.

I really liked this story. I enjoyed it very much and would recommend it as a worthwhile read. My only complaint is that I didn't think Lauren's father's explanation of why he'd had nothing to do with her in the last seven years was even close to being acceptable. IMO, he got off to easy--him and his wife. But alas for my vindictive spirit, this is a feel good Christmas story, so in the end everyone is happy and in sync with one another. LOL FYI, there is sex in the book but the reader is given minimal details, it doesn't involve any crude language, and it is very easily skipped. Happy reading!

Lauren focused on doing what she could to give Kristen a good life filled with love and did it well. But Lauren had no idea that Kristen wanted a Daddy and someone to love her Mommy too. Lauren had found out that was Kristen's Christmas wishes she shared with Santa. Then when her car would start, unknown to her Kyle, that offered her help was the Santa that was going to be her gift that she never thought she would ever have to help mend her heart. And Kyle who loved to help people and kids never thought that just helping a stranded lady would help him deal with his past and give him a family to love and nurture. Lauren and Kyle's journey is not always easy, but how they are drawn together tugs the heart, let's you laugh and cry that I couldn't help but celebrate their Christmas wishes coming true. I needed tissues to get through reading their story, at times because of sadness, but also because of shared tears o joy with the stories characters.
Excellent writing. A fast read that leaves me wanting to read more from this author. I like how the author writes her books that they can stand alone even though it's a part of a series that I don't need to read them in order.
