Flight of Icarus Icarus Risen Alex Alexander Kathy Fisher Books
This book had great potential. It got confusing in some places and the the plot twist took away from the story. I think my biggest qualm with book is the sudden sifts in Jubal's personality. I realize he is complex but one day he is frozen fortress and the next day almost warm... Progressive changes would have been better. Those are my complaints. Now the good. I liked the characters. The ending was very fitting. I loved the discovery of Jubal's past. Delphi is a nice touch i liked that. Zam surprised me but i like that. Though the separation of real space and imperial confused me at first, i really ended up liking it. With clear transition and a little more realistic personality development this book would have been stellar.Tags : Amazon.com: Flight of Icarus (Icarus Risen) (9781499164381): Alex Alexander, Kathy Fisher: Books,Alex Alexander, Kathy Fisher,Flight of Icarus (Icarus Risen),CreateSpace Independent Publishing Platform,1499164386,FICTION Science Fiction Action & Adventure,Fiction,Fiction - Science Fiction,Science Fiction,Science Fiction - Action & Adventure
Flight of Icarus Icarus Risen Alex Alexander Kathy Fisher Books Reviews
It is perhaps justifiable to say that Alex Alexander’s writings somehow bear the genetic strands of Robert Ludlum or Clive Cussler, with a few shades of Isaac Asimov—yet, despite such a comparison, Alexander has his own distinct literary power—and it couldn’t be more emotionally resonant in his book, ‘Flight of Icarus’.
At its heart, ‘Flight of Icarus’ is a complex tale of betrayal, greed, and personal redemption. Ex-soldier Jubal is taken out of semi-retirement just to fulfil what he thinks is his one last gig. Legendary among couriers, Jubal crosses path with Zamera, just when his mission is to hunt down the deserters of the war of which Jubal is a veteran. Naturally, the mission catapults Jubal back to his past, and he’s forced to confront it, even the most unsavoury and painful aspects of his own past. What he discovers shakes him down to the core and compels him to question his own motivations and character. Realizing that the proverbial Damoclean sword also hangs over him and it’s only a matter of time before his status as “hunter” turns into “hunted”, he joins Zamera to flee—and that’s only for starters.
I love Alex Alexander’s use of Greek mythology in this book series, which continues in the second book, ‘Gift of Prometheus.’ These myths provide a rich context for the multi-layered plot and twists in the story, lending it a heavier intellectual and emotional gravitas you don’t really find in other recent science fiction books. That’s why I love this book to shreds—and if the author releases the sequel, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat. Get a copy today—‘flight of Icarus’ deserves all the five-star ratings it gets.
I love this book! I love the character development and the story lineI It would make a great movie! Wish there were more! Will there be a sequel????
Only so-so; hard to get into and somewhat confusing.
A readable and engaging story. Needs some minor edits, possibly a victim of ms spell check.
Loved all the twists and turns. Especially enjoyed the synthesis of biology and technology in the characters. The different view of the universe was great.
AA has written a novel indicating an entire planet of people fled to survive. They were chased across the galaxy and slowly eliminated. A few groups escaped to the far reaches of Space. This is an excellent read for the genre.....ER
Having loved science fiction since I was a child, I welcomed the chance to review this book in exchange for a copy. I'm always interested in what today's Authors are bringing to the table. This was my first experience with the Author "Alex Alexander" and I really didn't know what to expect. I'm pleased to say, that if like a great sci-fy story; this book is for you! The Author has done a superb job of writing a truly fascinating story!
Although a long story of over 300 pages on my tablet; I didn't find it hard to read and thought the Editor "Kathy Fisher" did an excellent job of formatting the book for kindle. It can also be the small grammatical, punctuation and spelling errors that take away from the whole reading experience. I found the book "Flight of Icarus" to be a very pleasant reading experience in all. The story-line was tight and seemed well thought out and as believable as a science fiction novel can be... ;)
I found Jubal and Zamera to be interesting characters, and to be well suited to the story-line and very well fleshed out as the story progressed. I found myself drawn into each destination and was easily able to visualize the scenes as they unfolded. The story also had plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader interested and I really couldn't guess which way the story was going to go next. I particularly found the Remnary very interestingly described creatures... freaky! Not only was this a great book, the Author even threw in a preview of the next book in the series "Gift of Prometheus" which I found to be a really nice touch. I can't wait to read it!
